The Long Good Friday through the window darkly
Recently rewatching the 1980 crime masterpiece The Long Good Friday, I was struck not only by the catharsis of witnessing capitalist failure, but also the amount of looking through glass the director John Mackenzie employed throughout the film. A barrier between the viewer (sometimes us, sometimes characters in the film)
