Street Eaters - Opaque
Street Eaters has been one of my favorite bands since sometime in 2011 when my band Blast & the Detergents randomly and fortunately played a show with them in a basement of the legendary house Brown Town in Athens, Ohio when we were both on tour. This was an especially cursed tour for us, as the next day or so my car died on the Jersey side of the Lincoln Tunnel, but discovering Street Eaters was worth the oil and steel sacrifice.
At the time and for many years, Street Eaters was a bass and drum two piece. Their concept album referencing Ursula Le Guin's works called The Envoy with that configuration is an all time fav of mine and one I revisit very frequently. We were fortunate enough for them to dip into Florida touring this record and we traveled up to Gainesville to catch them. Incredible.

Since 2017, the band has expanded to now include guitar, and this month saw a powerful release that maintains the dynamics of the bass and drum established with guitar interwoven and taking flourishing space. Truly a 3 piece unit now, great songs and a welcome addition to their expansive catalog. I love it.
Check out the new album Opaque, it's a banger!
